I logged on to a site on the Internet that you put in what you would like
from a dog and after giving detail of size etc it tells you your match ( guess what mine was). I got Fiona to do the same
and hers also came out the bernese mountain dog Our fate was sealed .
We decided we wanted one ourselves but struggled
to find one until we contacted Penny and Tony Duckworth in Southport. They had one girl puppy left so we drove down and fell
in love with Orca. She was beautiful and needed lots of attention I often say she is my little girl as she does not act like
a dog at all she is all lady. This proved to be the start of a great friendship with Penny and Tony and to this day we keep
in touch and we will always be eternally greatful to them for bringing Orca into our lives.
When Orca was three we decided to take a litter from her and used Penny
and Tony's dog Frank. She had three lovely puppies but one died. Maverick and Monty were fantastic and we still see them
both regularly especially Maverick as he belongs to one of our best friends Lynn and George.
Orca then had another litter this time we used Michelle Gurneys dog Monalou
Baxter the Future and they produced three lovely girls and two gorgeous boys. Morgan, Miska (Lynn and George's Mavericks
Mum & Dad), Casey, Oska and Daisy whom we kept and again will be eternally grateful to Michelle for helping us breed such
a great girl. (photos in the gallery).
We
love this breed and can never imagine a time in our lives that we will not own one. Not only are bernese magnificant looking
dogs and they have the most fantastic temperament of any dog I have ever known, this was especially proved when Mackenzie
our son entered our lives two years ago. Even though they are huge they are so gentle and protective of our little boy and
to watch our dogs with him is amazing.
